Why We Are Needed
The reality is that everyday dogs of all types are brought to local shelters; dogs with wonderful hearts, gentle personalities and lots of love to give. There are many reasons why. Some of them never adjust to shelter life. They’re afraid, confused and stressed. Sometimes, their true personalities disappear while at the shelter.
Shelters are over-crowded and under-resourced. Many don’t have enough personnel to give the dogs the time and the love they need. Others are short on medical staff, financial resources and programs to address important needs. Rural shelters, in some cases, don’t even have regular visitor traffic or enough people in the community looking to adopt a dog. Sadly, for many dogs at these shelters, the road ends in euthanasia.
